Research built to answer difficult historical questions
Begin with the detail you have—a product, plant, steam system, family member, trust, worksite or fragment of memory—and explore the historical questions connected to it.
New York State Exposure Research
Start with a New York region, workplace, trade or year and move into source-led work-history and facility records.
Central New York Exposure Research

Historical Asbestos Product Index
Start with a remembered material, brand, equipment category or use and follow the evidence outward.
Power Generation Exposure Archive
Reconstruct the plant through work areas, occupations, equipment, maintenance and records.
Steam-System Historical Research Project
Follow boilers, piping, valves, pumps, insulation, gaskets and packing across workplaces and trades.
Asbestos Bankruptcy Trust Research Center
Connect trusts to historical companies, products, industries, occupations and official materials.
Household Exposure Evidence Library
Organize worker-to-home pathways, family memory and corroborating records.
Mesothelioma Exposure Atlas
Start with what a person remembers and move through qualified historical relationships.
Historical Worksite Research
Reconstruct departments, equipment, trades, contractors, dates and documentary sources.
Research & Source Library
Inspect the source register and the rules The H&S Resource Center uses for uncertainty.
Different starting points can lead into the same history
A remembered occupation may lead to equipment. Equipment may lead to products and manufacturers. A worksite may lead to trades, contractors and records. These research projects let you approach the history from the detail you actually remember.
