Industrial work is an environment, not just a job title
A plant history can involve the worker's own tasks and the work of maintenance, insulation, pipe, boiler, electrical and contractor crews nearby. Record where the work happened as carefully as what the job was called.
Map the facility
Boiler houses, turbine halls, machine shops, maintenance areas, utility tunnels, production lines and warehouses can point toward different equipment and records.
Remember maintenance cycles
Outages, shutdowns, turnarounds, equipment rebuilds and renovation projects may have involved different materials and contractors than ordinary operations.
Identify evidence
Engineering drawings, equipment manuals, purchase orders, contractor records, union records, photographs and coworker testimony can help test a remembered history.
