Facility history

EPA reports that unsafe demolition left asbestos contamination and that friable asbestos presented a potential risk at the property.
Government response
EPA conducted emergency work beginning in 2023 and announced a 2025 agreement requiring further asbestos cleanup under federal oversight.
What these records do not establish
- These EPA records do not establish whether any particular worker was exposed to asbestos during plant operations.
- They do not, by themselves, identify the asbestos-containing products, manufacturers, contractors, departments, or tasks associated with a particular worker.
- Individual exposure requires a separate person-specific and time-specific investigation.

- Did their work involve boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, piping, electrical systems, insulation, demolition, shutdowns, or maintenance?
- Who worked alongside them and what records, photographs, specifications, invoices, or testimony may survive?
