Eagle One-Cote: a 1956 naval evaluation correspondence
A company letter connects One-Cote to a naval engineering evaluation without assuming installation aboard a ship.
What the letter records
A 1956 Eagle-Picher Insulation Division letter discusses a U.S. Naval Engineering Experiment Station evaluation report concerning Eagle One-Cote Cement. It requests copying of the report and its return to New York while naval specifications were being developed.
What a naval worker may remember
A product name in a technical evaluation can be a useful lead when reviewing specifications, ship repair records, purchase orders or engineering correspondence. But an evaluation is not the same as proof that a product was approved, bought or installed on any named vessel.
Connection to private-label manufacturing
The 1959 Joplin manufacturing specification separately identifies NARCO Unicote finishing cement as regular Eagle-Picher One-Cote. That makes One-Cote a particularly useful cross-reference between company correspondence and product packaging.
