Eagle-Picher historical research

Eagle-Picher and New York Worksite Records

A historical trust worksite list and published court opinion offer two different ways to investigate a remembered New York workplace.

Two kinds of historical records

The Eagle-Picher Industries Settlement Trust published an approved-jobsite list used in its claims process. A listed employer or site is a claims-administration reference, not by itself proof that a particular person worked with a particular product. A published court opinion, by contrast, may describe testimony or allegations tied to named workers and specific settings.

New York names worth recognizing

A February 2023 version of the trust list includes New York Air Brake Company (Watertown), New York Telephone (Syracuse), SUNY Oswego (Oswego), New York State Electric & Gas (Ludlowville), New York City Transit Authority, and other New York entries. These are useful geographic and employer-name starting points for further investigation. The list is dated and should not be assumed to be the trust’s current claims criteria.

Brooklyn Navy Yard: a separate judicial record

The Second Circuit described World War II claims concerning Eagle 66 / Super 66 insulating cement used aboard Navy vessels under construction or repair at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This is a more particularized historical record than an entry on an administrative site list.

How to use these names

Start with the remembered employer, building, trade and years. Then investigate whether insulation crews, maintenance projects, boilers, hot piping or contractor records can be connected to a named Eagle-Picher product. An employer name alone does not identify a product or individual exposure.

Explore the Niagara Mohawk locations

The dated trust list names Niagara Mohawk sites in multiple New York regions, including Croghan, Potsdam, Oswego, Fulton, Trenton Falls and other localities. Follow the locations →
