NARCO Staz-On and Unicote: the names behind the bags
A 1959 factory specification connects private-label insulation products to Eagle-Picher formulations.
Two names on the bag, another in the factory
An Eagle-Picher Insulation Division specification dated August 1, 1959 identifies NARCO Staz-On Insulating Cement as regular Eagle-Picher Super 66 insulating cement. It identifies NARCO Unicote Finishing Cement as regular Eagle-Picher One-Cote cement. This is direct evidence of specified private-label manufacturing, not proof that every NARCO product was identical.
Packaging details that can bring back a memory
- Staz-On: 50-pound sewn-open-mouth kraft bags, with blue and black printing specified.
- Unicote: 50-pound sewn-open-mouth kraft bags, with yellow and black printing specified.
- The specification includes bag dimensions, mixing instructions and printed-form numbers, and mentions planned changes in bag size.
Why this connection matters
A worker may remember the NARCO name on a bag rather than Eagle-Picher. A purchasing record may list Staz-On or Unicote while an internal manufacturing record uses Super 66 or One-Cote. The precise product and year still matter.
