Eagle-Picher Company Timeline
A historical orientation from diversified manufacturing to the asbestos bankruptcy.
Early twentieth century
Eagle-Picher developed as a diversified industrial business with roots in lead, mining, chemicals and batteries. The business history is broader than its insulation products.
1930–1971: documented cement production
A 1990 federal notice identifies Eagle-Picher insulating and finishing cement production from 1930 through 1971. It identifies Super 66, previously Eagle 66, within that history.
1991: Chapter 11
Eagle-Picher filed for Chapter 11 protection on January 7, 1991. The filing followed extensive asbestos personal-injury litigation.
1996: confirmed reorganization
A reorganization plan was confirmed November 18, 1996. Bankruptcy proceedings established mechanisms for handling asbestos-related claims; later businesses with similar names should not be assumed to be identical legal entities.
