Nonpareil High Pressure Covering, Block and Cement

An early Armstrong high-temperature insulation family: names, forms and work processes.

What the names describe

“Covering” typically points to shaped insulation placed around piping. “Block” suggests rigid sections fitted to flat or curved equipment surfaces. “Cement” identifies material applied to fill or finish irregular spaces.

Where the memory begins

Think of pipe runs, boilers, heat equipment, cut sections, mixing and finishing work. An old invoice, insulation specification, job order or product carton may distinguish a particular product from generic insulation.

The historical period

Armstrong product responses place Nonpareil in roughly 1910–1933. The Federal Register also describes Nonpareil High Pressure Covering, Block and Cement as historical Armstrong high-temperature products.
